The Golden Rules of Reporting

Trust your instincts - Call 999 if you are in threat or need urgent response.

For non-urgent issues, persevere with 101 to speak to the police if you need to (If possible, do this at quieter times to avoid long wait times).

If you would prefer to report your information totally anonymously, call CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111 to report any crime or suspicion of crime - this can
play a vital part in helping the police to ‘complete the criminal-intelligence jigsaw’.

Information to give

  • date

  • time

  • location, as much detail as possible

  • photos/videos if you can take safely

If you don't do any of the above, still ALWAYS REPORT via website or via an app - it’s the only way the full picture of incidents can be understood and resources allocated accordingly.

Get the apps – it makes reporting much easier and sends the information direct.
