The Golden Rules of Reporting

Trust your instincts - Call 999 if you are in threat or need urgent response.

For non-urgent issues, persevere with 101 to speak to the police if you need to (If possible, do this at quieter times to avoid long wait times).

Information to give

  • date

  • time

  • location, as much detail as possible

  • photos/videos if you can take safely

ALWAYS REPORT via website or via an app - it’s the only way the full picture of incidents can be understood and resources allocated accordingly.

Get the apps – it makes reporting much easier and sends the information direct.
